The Opera Greenwich Artist Development Programme is designed to provide singers with a space for artistic growth, where they can continue honing their performance skills, ensemble work, acting, movement, and stage presence. This programme creates an environment dedicated to presence, connection, and exploration in a creative, safe, and supportive setting amongst peers and industry professionals.

At the heart of this initiative is the mission to support artists who face financial, cultural, or other access barriers to the profession or further study of opera. We are deeply aware of the costs associated with being an opera singer – including singing lessons, coaching, language sessions, and auditions – and are committed to reducing these burdens. Today, the "complementary" skills required for performance are essential, and we want to ensure that these areas of development become a core part of our artists' toolkit.

This programme is ideal for:

  • Emerging professionals

  • Recent graduates

  • Conservatoire students

  • Private students preparing for conservatoire or opera school

  • Anyone currently auditioning for roles (both principal and chorus)

The 2024/2025 programme includes monthly group workshops on acting, movement, relaxation techniques, languages, stage presence, and stage combat, as well as opportunities for private coaching and, most importantly, multiple performance opportunities. All workshops will take place at our new home, the Greenwich Theatre. Opera Greenwich collaborates with established industry professionals and emerging talents, providing valuable networking and mentorship opportunities.

To help eliminate barriers to accessing training, we are offering 12 fully-funded positions that cover all programme activities at no cost to participants.

More places are available at the rate of £30/month or £120 for the full academic year.

We are accepting applications via video submissions until 10th October
